# Experience — Nerijus Masikonis

> 15+ years building end-to-end. First developer at Generation Genius — acquired for $100M. Built ClickFlow's AI content engine and SEO systems with 269% ROI.

I'm Nerijus. I own digital products end-to-end and I care about what they do for the business.

## How I Work

- **Problem-first, tool-second** — I figure out what actually needs building, then I build it. No wasted cycles on the wrong thing.

- **Full-cycle velocity** — I ship in days what used to take weeks. AI-native means I own the whole thing - idea to production.

- **Connects the dots** — I've shipped SEO systems, marketing platforms, and growth tools. I see how the pieces fit.

- **Outcomes over output** — I think about what moves the business, not how many tickets I close.

I started building websites at 14. After school, I got hired by a Swiss agency and worked remotely for 7 years, building sites for clients like CERN and EPFL.

Then I realized code alone doesn't matter. Clients needed revenue, not just websites. I joined Single Grain to work closer to the business, learned how growth and marketing actually work, and started building systems where the code itself drives outcomes.

Generation Genius taught me high-growth. First developer at a startup later acquired for $100M, scaling from 250K to 1.25M visitors. Daily fires, real stakes, 6x revenue growth. That's where I learned to perform under pressure.

Post-2022, developers split into two camps: those who resisted AI and those who rebuilt around it. I went all in immediately. Learned agentic patterns, rebuilt my workflow, started delivering what used to take a team. Now I work solo, directly with founders, CEOs, and operators.

## Where I've Built

### Single Grain

Growth Marketing Engineer → Product Engineer · 2017-2019, 2020-2026

I started managing web properties, then evolved into building products and growth systems. Working alongside expert marketers, I learned how digital marketing actually works: SEO, conversion optimization, the full funnel.

In 2023, I built a complete **programmatic SEO technology stack** when it was still emerging. It generated **$105K revenue from $28K spend** (269% ROI), 1,670 leads, and 2 new clients. In 2024, I redesigned the homepage and increased leads **40%**.

Early 2025, I spotted an opportunity to automate content creation with AI. I originated the concept, built the backend foundations and agentic workflows, and assisted the CTO in shaping the UX for [ClickFlow](https://clickflow.com). It now generates **100+ blog drafts weekly** at **10x lower cost** ($250 → $25 per post). I also built AI features for [Karrot.ai](https://karrot.ai), a B2B marketing platform.

**Highlights:** ClickFlow (AI Platform) · 100+ Posts (Weekly) · 10x Cost Cut ($250 → $25) · 40% Lift (Homepage Leads)

### Generation Genius

Lead Web Developer → Consulting Developer · 2019-2025

I joined as the first full-time developer when the platform was incomplete. I inherited messy code from offshore contractors and had to rebuild the foundation. I refactored core systems, completed the site, and built the technical architecture that scaled from 250K to 1.25M monthly visitors while revenue grew 6x.

In 2024, the site started experiencing daily outages. I migrated the infrastructure myself, coordinated with the new host, and executed the move with **zero downtime**. Outages dropped to zero.

I spent almost 2 years working with the investment banker on acquisition due diligence: data analysis, retention reports, business metrics. The company became the [#1 Fastest-Growing Education Company](https://www.inc.com/inc5000/2022) on Inc5000, earned recognition on [TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential Companies](https://time.com/collection/time100-companies-2023/), and was acquired by Newsela for [$100M in 2025](https://marketbrief.edweek.org/strategy-operations/newsela-expands-presence-into-math-and-science-by-acquiring-generation-genius/2025/02).

**Highlights:** First Developer (Early Chaos) · 6x Revenue (Growth Enabled) · $100M Acquisition (Newsela 2025) · Zero Outages (After Migration)

### Too Pixel

Developer → Lead Developer · 2010-2017

I started my career at a Swiss web agency in Geneva, working remotely when remote wasn't common. I spent 7 years there building sites for clients like CERN, Notz Stucki, EPFL, and Newby of London. High-stakes projects that had to ship on time.

This was my foundation. I learned how to write clean code, ship under pressure, and work remotely effectively.
